When it comes to Boston businesses, Downtown Crossing hasn’t always been on the list of places to set up shop. However, that opinion has been changing. You can now find just about any trendsetting activity downtown, from innovative tech start-ups, to luxurious salons, to charming French cafes. Here is a list of a few new businesses we think everyone should be keeping an eye on.

Nanigans

If you’re a fan of start-ups, you’re in the right city. Boston’s start-up scene has been booming ever since MIT and Harvard opened up their innovation labs. With social marketing advertisements on the rise, Nanigans is already the biggest Facebook-oriented ad optimization platform since beginning to focus exclusively on this avenue in 2010, and is growing fast. The company picked the right time when it moved its shop in November to a bigger space downtown at 60 State Street.

“We got a great deal on a two-year sublease, and while we looked at other areas, it seems like you can get the best deals in the Financial District right now,” says CEO Ric Calvillo.

Fresh thinking and content-focused, Nanigans helps businesses increase profits by delivering customized, targeted ads to your Facebook page. That means no more online dating ads and only ones that are relevant to your lifestyle and helpful to what you want—even if you don’t know about them yet. Check out their website for information about these hip social media innovators.

Fascino Salon & Spa

Dry, dull skin, begone! Everyone needs some pampering, especially during the last months of the winter season. And what better way to get that radiant glow for spring then visiting a luxurious new spa. It’s an oasis for those looking for a facial, a fresh new hairdo, or a massage. Open since August, Fascino offers a full range of services to bring out your natural beauty. Fascino Salon & Spa is located in Downtown Crossing at 30 Tremont street.

Cafe Province

Crêpes, croissants, and French pastries are getting off their Provençal plane and setting up shop in a new cafe in Downtown Crossing. So why has this cafe made it into the spotlight for Boston businesses? Its cozy yet swanky atmosphere, excellent collection of organic coffee drinks, and freshly-made pastries makes it a wonderful new addition to the area (doors opened in January) . Your vacation plans didn’t take you to France this year? Fear not. Come by for a café au lait and pastry and let your imagination sweep you away. Cafe Province is located conveniently at 26 Province Street, Downtown Crossing.

Pamper yourself, drink the finest French-style coffee, and be grateful for all the new all-star Boston businesses making their home in Downtown Crossing.
