You’ve tried staying indoors and waiting out the storm. Now it’s time to shake off the snow and try something new in downtown Boston. To help you navigate the city’s fun winter spots, I’ve rated and reviewed this week’s most interesting events and activities. Stop falling into the vortex of snow updates on Facebook — it’s time to get out of the house.

  1. Mix it up on a Monday: You’re no stranger to going out to some of hottest restaurants in Downtown Crossing. But what you might not know is there’s a new spin on dining out on Monday–usually known as the dullest night of the week. “Mix It Up Mondays” was created by Boston magazine, along with some of the city’s most fantastic restaurants, to ensure you get a lustrous special entree at a reduced price. Most of these special meals are paired with a Belvedere Vodka-based beverage handpicked by local chefs. Click here for a list of participating restaurants.
  2. Take a lesson in Cakeology: You don’t need to justify your sweet cravings. Just satisfy them with something good. In its heyday, cake ruled over all desserts, and now it’s coming back and has set up shop in downtown Boston. What’s more, the flavor possibilities are endless. Cakeology has wonderfully unique flavors, from Earl Grey to brownie sundae to margarita. There’s a flavor for everyone’s fancy! Click here for more information about Cakeology.
  3. Get the ultimate fix and see a live performance: Banish the bland with a live act from one of these two hot picks of the week. This week the Wilbur theater is featuring Bill Burr, a local comedian who is coming back to his roots after regular appearances on Conan O’Brien and Showtime at the Apollo. Tickets are going fast, so make sure to secure your seats soon! Not interested in a comedy act? Check out the Colonial Theater for a fantastic performance of the Tony, Grammy, and Oliver Award-winning hit Jersey Boys. With rave reviews from all audiences it’s definitely worth seeing before it leaves Boston on March 3rd.

Check out this list and we promise your cabin fever will be just like the blizzard: old news.
