Boston’s #1 holiday tradition returns with all new sets and costumes on November 23rd. 350 never-before-seen costumes, designed by Robert Perdziola, will debut during the  world premiere of Mikko Nissinen’s The NutcrackerEmploying lighter, paler hues, over fourteen hundred yards of hand-painted tulle and 250,000 Swarovski crystals, Perdziola said he and Nissinen looked to German culture for much of their inspiration, but also drew from Denmark, Sweden, and Russia when designing the sets and costumes.

Here’s an intimate look behind-the-scenes of the production, which runs until December 30th at the Boston Opera House.
