If you are a fan of arts and culture, be sure to check out the Greenway Public Art Kickoff Celebration. Take advantage of the currently exceptional Boston weather and take part in the festivities on May 19 between 5 and 8 p.m. at the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a popular warm weather spot among locals and tourists with its appealing public art displays, vibrant music performances, and incredible food trucks.

From China Town to the North End, the Greenway Public Art Kickoff will come alive with numerous activities and art displays to enthrall people of all ages. The Greenway Conservancy will host the 2016 Public Art Celebration to launch 6 exclusive art pieces by talented artists. You will see Don Kennell’s Monkey See, Gianna Stewart’s Midden, Lawrence Weiner’s A Translation from One Language to Another, Ai Weiwei’s Zodiac Heads, Matthew Homan’s May This Never End and Carolina Aragon’s High Tide. Interact with Kennell, Stewart, Hoffman, and Aragon as they will be present at the launch of their pieces. Pick your favorite artist’s brain and find out the inspiration behind their breathtaking artwork. There will also be a Mobile Pottery Truck called Pottery on Wheels (POW!) in the Rings Fountain area in the Wharf District Parks. Enjoy cup painting, wheel-throwing and hand building. Explore the artist in you by experimenting with materials at the DRAW pop-up art cart situated by the Greenway Carousel in the Wharf District Parks.

If your toddler or child loves spending time at The Greenway Conservancy, there are several activities to appeal to the youngest Bostonians. PlayCubes will also be launched on May 19 in Chinatown Park where clusters of colorful dodecahedron climbing structures will be unveiled. If you are in the Wharf District Parks, make sure you stop for some Bubble Play, fun with bubbles including everything from waving and swirling to blowing and stretching! Stop by the Greenway Carousel, a permanent fixture that can be enjoyed by all ages.

There will also be various performances displaying the city’s talent. Enjoy entertaining music and dance performances by students from Berklee College of Music and Boston University. Allow the Berklee Musicians and Boston University Bhangra Dance Group to entertain you through the evening. Enjoy a delightfully charming performance by the Boston Erhu Ensemble and be mesmerized by the Wu Dao Kung Fu demonstrations. These amazing performances are family friendly, so feel free to bring your loved ones young and old to the Greenway Public Art Kickoff Celebration.
