Millennium Tower Will Bring Business to Downtown Crossing

Millennium Tower is set to be the home of 500-600 luxury condos and apartments for some of the wealthiest individuals in Boston giving neighboring businesses new opportunities. Millennium Tower will symbolize and invigorate the heart of Boston with new residents, business owners and private investment, solidifying the promise of Downtown Crossing.

The developer, Millennium Partners, plans to “exhilarate” the area with improvements to Shopper’s Park next to the tower. An outdoor amphitheater is in the works in front of a strong retail entrance at that corner. This will enhance activity in the area giving more options for individuals to enjoy this portion of the property.

The century-old, historic Burnham Building, former home of defunct retailer Filene’s, will be fully restored and contain retail on the first few floors and offices above. The projects design firm, Handel Architects, noted that there would be at least one level of retail underground, the old Filene’s basement space will at least retain that historic function.

The $600 million plus Millennium Tower over 600 feet in the sky is set to revitalize Boston’s Downtown Crossing. The tower will become one of the tallest buildings in Boston setting the scene for not only a new skyline, but fixing a gaping hole. The project will fill the corner of Washington and Franklin Street after years of frustration in the downtown-shopping district. Millennium Tower will move the downtown housing policy in the proper direction where it needs to be becoming the milestone to Downtown Crossing and one of the best places to live.
