Republic Fitness: A New DTX Gym to Exercise Your Workout Resolutions
Remember that time you were in shape? Muscle tone, jeans that fit, tight abs. You had it all. And then came the holiday season – parties, cocktails and food. Somewhere between that first Halloween mini Twix and the giant tub of Poppycock popcorn at the office from your No. 1 client, you lost your will. As they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way. And pretty soon you can find both at Two International Place in the Financial District.
Just in time for your 2015 workout resolutions, the new Republic Fitness gym will be the destination of choice to exercise your right to a better body. Although the opening date still remains hush-hush, it’s in the works and you had better get your body ready for the experience.
Fueled by a “healthy people make up healthy communities” motto, this flagship gym in the Financial District is locally owned Healthworks Group’s newest venture (it joins the group’s popular Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women and GymIt). They’ve been working local bodies since 1978, so they obviously know what they’re doing.
When you enter the two-story power house, there are myriad options to get you moving, including classes like high-intensity boot camps, barre and zumba, or work your mind and body through yoga. There’s also a separate indoor cycling room, cardio stations and a functional turf area for advanced strength training like TRX. And even though we have no idea what it is, their Metabolic Conditioning sounds like it will whip you into shape. Whatever class you choose, you’re taught by highly trained fitness instructors who know how to get the job done.
Tech-savvy members, you’re in luck. Introduce yourself to the gym’s brand new state-of-the-art Matrix exercise equipment. They play nicely with popular apps like FitBit and MyFitnessPal, so you have serious accountability by linking your workouts. There are also high-tech features like virtual classes during off-peak times (perfect for when you don’t feel like shlepping to hit the live ones) and access to the Rockbot jukebox app for the tunes you want during your workout (Iggy Azalea, here we come). And don’t forget to post your gym-going status on Facebook with the free wifi throughout the gym.
When you’re all done sweating, it’s time to chill. Fuel up on a few snacks from Republic Fitness’s “grab-and-go” health bar and then relax with your fellow workout kings and queens in two lounge areas with flat-screen TVs. For alone time, step into the luxurious locker areas for a steamy shower with complimentary top-of-the-line Malin + Goetz products (these have natural ingredient for sensitive skin).
Gym memberships for this downtown club are available now, and you might still be able to get in on a few amazing pre-opening specials. And if you want access to all of the Healthworks Group clubs, there will also be an all-club premium package available.
Once Republic Fitness opens, you can say goodbye to those hated love handles, extra pounds and tubby tummies. After a few workouts with them, there’ll be no evidence left of that huge holiday feast.
